We are currently seeking to fill the following open positions:

  • Principal Environmental Engineer

    Key responsibilities:

    • Process design and simulation of desalination plants

    • Manage outside laboratory analytical work

    • Supervise construction and lead commissioning of brine concentration projects.

    • Lead the operation and maintenance of desalination facilities

    • Develop techno-economic models of water purification processes

    • Author and support new proposals and business development in water treatment

    • Review and analyze environmental documentation from the federal, state, and local regulatory entities

    • Lead re-use efforts and liaise with stakeholders on procedures and permits required for re-use

    Desired experience & qualifications:

    • Experience in water or waste water treatment and, preferably, produced water recycling

    • Experience with membrane-based water purification processes

    • Deep understanding of aqueous chemistry and prevention of scaling and fouling

    • Experience navigating air and water pollution regulations

    • Enthusiasm for field work, laboratory work, and computer modeling

    Office location: Pasadena, CA

    Education:

    • MS or PhD in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering

  • Principal Mechanical Engineer

    Key responsibilities:

    • Front-end-engineering design of solar process heating systems and their integration into client facilities

    • Construction management support for installation of mechanical equipment

    • Manage O&M operations at existing and new Sunvapor installations

    • Specify and source equipment

    • Train contractors in assembly, installation, and maintenance.

    • Support commissioning

    • Support new technology and business development

    Desired experience & qualifications:

    • Minimum four years of experience in industrial process heating

    • Strong analytical understanding of heat transfer equipment, steam, and thermodynamics

    • Experience interfacing with piping, plumbing, and electrical construction tradespeople

    • Advanced knowledge of ASME Standards, and regulations

    • Hands-on mechanical abilities

    • Desire to work outdoors at project sites worldwide

    • Proficient with AutoCAD; capable with Python or Matlab

    • California Professional Engineer’s license is a plus

    • Design and performance calculations for HVAC systems.

    • Experience in the construction, maintenance and operation of industrial plants

    • Chemical process systems involving corrosive, toxic, flammable, and explosive materials

    • Utility systems including water, steam, compressed air, refrigeration

    • Process and utility piping including two phase flow systems (steam/condensate, ammonia)

    • Automation and control systems

    Education:

    • B. S. or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering field.
